Demo: Digital Clock

The Digital Clock preset demonstrates how Reactive Surface FX can drive complex numerical displays, segmented screens, and countdown timers.

Digital Clock Demo in Blender

Overview & Architecture

  • Display Panels: Built from procedural 7-segment digit meshes (Hours:Minutes) organized into DC_Panel_H1, DC_Panel_H2, DC_Panel_M1, and DC_Panel_M2.

  • Animated Drivers: Behind each segment panel lies a bank of keyframed proximity driver blades.

  • Mechanical Keyframing: Drivers advance using constant step interpolation to cycle through numerals (0 through 9).

  • Phosphor Afterglow: The display utilizes subtle Phosphor Decay, creating the realistic slight fade-out seen in glowing fluorescent displays as numbers transition.

Key Concepts Demonstrated

  1. Child Driver Organization: All segment drivers are parented to their respective display panels, making each digit an independent, duplicable module.

  2. Procedural Bezel Gaps: Individual LED segments utilize procedural pixel gaps with dark bezel material fills.

  3. Color Customization: Easily swap driver materials to turn digits emerald green, amber yellow, or cyan blue.
